Nobody saw a strange light, nobody saw it come or go
Nobody saw any light, up on the hill or in the valley below
Nobody entered the camp to take our trouble out or bring us some more
Nothing but a green lamp
Is in here now, that wasn’t in here before/ it wasn’t in here before

Is it emanating rays you don’t like? Making friends of enemies in its light?
Can’t say where it’s from or how it got in here, last night!
Nobody saw any light

Nobody saw any light or heard a dog in the dark
A snappin’ twig beneath a zebrawood tree woulda made the dog bark
No one entered the camp, no one that we saw, anyway
And but for the green lamp
There’s nothing here now, wasn’t here yesterday

Is it emanating rays you don’t like? Making friends of enemies in its light?
Can’t say where its from or how it got in here, last night
Nobody saw any light

Don’t believe that I closed my eyes once, baby
Watchin’ your wagon, as I’ve done every night since the government came
And although we have not heard yet from Davy
I’m not really sure why I know this is so, but, he’s okay (he’s okay)
Nobody entered the camp

Nobody entered the camp, no one that we saw, anyway
Nothin but the green lamp
Is in here now that wasn’t here yesterday/yesterday

Is it emanating rays you don’t like? Making friends of enemies in its light?
Can’t say where its from or how it got into our camp
We circle ‘round the green lamp
